Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old female, and I am 5.5 feet tall, weighing 99 pounds. I have been experiencing excessive growth of pimple-like bumps on my face. I have tried all the home remedies, but they have not helped. Currently, I am not taking any medication, but I took Avil and applied a topical corticosteroid. However, the bumps do not seem to heal, and they appear to be a combination of prickly heat, rash, and pimples. These bumps have been present on my face for a few months. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and have examined your picture (attachments removed to protect patient’s identity). It appears to be pimples, not just pimple-like bumps. Please avoid using any topical steroids as they can aggravate your acne. Acne Vulgaris is a common skin problem in adolescents and adults, involving pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands. It often affects areas with dense oil glands, such as the face, chest, back, and upper arms. In your case, it seems to be grade 1 to grade 2 acne. I suggest applying gel Clindamycin 1% and Nicotinamide 4%l during the daytime over the pimples, and gel Microbenz (Benzoyl peroxide) 3.5% on the whole face at night, for around two to three months after consulting your general practitioner. Use a gentle face wash twice daily for cleansing. Additionally, follow certain dietary restrictions, such as avoiding oily, spicy foods, junk food, milk products, and non-vegetarian foods. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.

Thanks and regards.
