Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a sexual relationship with a stranger 14 days ago, then the condom was broken in the last few minutes, and I pushed my penis inside her. After three days, I started seeing my throat got white and illuminated, with small white points near my teeth and mouth from the inside, muscle pain, brown urine, and then two small white points on my dick with a bad smell, and I got antibiotics for last week then my urine color came back to normal and the points on the dick disappeared, and throat got little better. Is there any high risk for HIV infection with those indications? And is there any medicine to stop or control infection, if any? What is the fastest HIV test to perform, and after how many days from the sexual contact?

CBC was as follows yesterday: WBC 14.5, RBC 7.5, Hemoglobin 14.5, Hematocrit 45.3%, MCV 60.4, CRP, patient titter CRP 10.7, MCH 19.3, MCHC 32, RDW 17.2, platelet 132, MPV 9.3.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Your concern is regarding acquiring HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection after unprotected intercourse. The condom was broken during intercourse, and hence the chance of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) spread is definitely present. If you want to check early and confirmatory, then RT PCR (real-time polymerase chain reaction) or western blot-like molecular testing is advisable, and this test can give a conclusive result between one to two weeks of exposure. But it is a costly test.

If you want to find out a cheaper test, then you can investigate with a combo CMIA (chemiluminescence microparticle immunoassay) fourth-generation test or fourth-generation ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) test, which will give conclusive results within six weeks after exposure.

I hope this will help you.

Take care.
