Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 16 years old, suffering from face acne, dark spots, whiteheads, blackheads, and painful bumps. I tried everything: peel-off mask, acne cream treatment, exfoliating wash, and toothpaste to dry the pimples, and none of them worked. I even tried homemade paste made from turmeric powder, honey, and lemon with baking soda. The baking soda increased pimple swelling. If I use a new face wash for oily skin, it makes me break out even more. All of the above methods made me break out even more. I consulted a doctor, and they prescribed me a cream, but it only made my skin oilier. I am currently using a cream that the doctor has prescribed. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

The cause for your pimple is hormonal and due to oily skin. I suggest the following measures:

  1. Do not use hair oil or any sticky cream on the face.

  2. Avoid oily food, chocolate, and milk products.

  3. Avoid dust and use sunscreen with SPF (sun protection factor) above 30.

  4. Do not rub any cream on your face.

  5. Do not use any steroid creams.

  6. Facewash or soap is not useful as a treatment.

  7. Do not touch acne, and avoid pressing it.

I suggest the following treatment:

  1. Clindamycin gel is more preventive and curative. So it is used all over the face in the morning.

  2. Adapalene gel (Adalene, Differin) is applied over acne at night.

  3. Take tablet Doxycycline 100 mg once a day.

Continue treatment for at least a month. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
