Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had oral sex with a man, and deepthroated penis quite several times, and even vomited. This happened the day before yesterday. Today morning, I found that the left side of my throat hurts when I swallow food, water, or sputum, and a bit of constant dryness. Is it something serious, or should I wait a bit to see if it develops anything else? I have no other bodily worries or symptoms. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. There is nothing to worry too much about. This seems to be minor trauma to the throat following oral sex, which is quite common and should get back to normal in a few days. However, I hope that you are taking all due precautions to prevent any STD (sexually transmitted disease) and maintaining good and healthy sexual hygiene pre and post-intercourse. Be careful and understand your limitations when engaging in intercourse. If there are any persistent symptoms after a week we will need to do a more detailed evaluation.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.

Differential diagnosis:

Trauma to the throat

Throat infection.

Probable diagnosis:

Trauma to the throat.

Treatment plan:

I would suggest you do plain water gargles, use mouthwash, and maintain oral hygiene.

Regarding follow-up:

Follow up in seven days if symptoms persist.

Preventive measures:

Maintain proper sexual hygiene.
