Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a dislodged filling from my tooth at the beginning of the year, but it did not hurt. When I went to the dentist, they said the tooth was infected and I would need a root canal treatment and a crown placement. This is the second time the filling fell out from the same tooth. Both fillings came out within six months of the procedure. However, I am allergic to metals like silver, etc., but I need to get a crown placement. My insurance revealed that porcelain ceramic (which they cover) does not contain metal. However, my dentist informed me that it has metal, and I need to upgrade to zirconia, which costs extra money. Can you confirm whether there is metal in a porcelain ceramic crown?

Please reply.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, there is metal in ceramic crowns. Please choose zirconia. Try to find a way to pay half with insurance coverage and half with cash if it is a procedure accepted in your country. Zirconia is better, so go for it. You can research on the internet to find the ratio of metal in a porcelain crown. The porcelain crown is made of metal, and the porcelain finish makes it tooth-colored.

I hope this helps you.

I wish you good health and happiness.

Kindly update me on the improvements.
