Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been bleeding from my rectum for about an hour after having a bowel movement. During the first five minutes, there was heavy bleeding. The blood is bright red and not thick. The motion was not painful or anything out of the ordinary for me. About a month ago, I had surgery in which my gall bladder was removed. Should I seek medical attention for rectal bleeding?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I can understand your concern. Sir, you should go to a nearby clinic and get an instant treatment done because the bleeding is continuous. So you might need intravenous (IV) fluids to replace the blood loss. Otherwise, your blood pressure will fall. So go to a nearby clinic for a complete blood count (CBC) and digital rectal examination. Sometimes an operation is required if the bleeding is heavy. So kindly visit a nearby clinic.

Thank you.
